Nominate a Family in Need of a New Furnace

Second Annual “A Warmer Winter” to Give Richmond Family New Furnace

Dec. 19, 2012 (Richmond, Va.)–WTVR, Woodfin and the Better Housing Coalition are bringing more comfort and joy this winter with the second annual “A Warmer Winter,” a public service effort to bring a new furnace to a family in need in Metro Richmond. BHC

“In our industry, we see a lot of families who struggle to keep their homes warm in the cold months,” said Jack Woodfin, CEO of Woodfin. “Because our customers inspire us every day, we find ways to give back – and A Warmer Winter is just one way we do that. At Woodfin, we think everyone deserves a warm, happy and healthy home.”

Starting today and running through January 13, 2013, the community is encouraged to nominate a family or friend, whose current living conditions call for the free installation of a brand new home heating system.

“The winter months can be difficult for many families,” said Mary Kay Huss, vice president of operations for the Better Housing Coalition. “With so many people in our community under financial stress to pay their mortgages and rents right now, replacing an old or non-working heating system can be cost prohibitive. The only alternative for them is to go without heat. A Warmer Winter enables the entire community to get involved and help give a family a safe and warm home.”

Nomination forms are to be completed by visiting www.wtvr.com/warmerwinter or www.askwoodfin.com with a description of why a family or friend deserves a new furnace.  The receiving family will be announced on January 16th, 2013 on CBS 6 during the 6 p.m. news.

“CBS 6 is honored to be teaming up with Woodfin and the Better Housing Coalition again this year,” Zach Daniel, chief meteorologist for CBS 6. “No family should have to spend the winter in a cold home, and this campaign is a step in the right direction.”
