Andrea Butler

Andrea Butler has 25 years experience in strategic communications for organizations ranging from non-profits to Fortune 200. She has a strong record of helping organizations acquire new audiences to generate more customers and supporters.    

Earlier in her career Andrea was communications director at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Massey Cancer Center where she oversaw communications for its cancer research, clinical care and fundraising activities. She also was public relations director for the non-profit National Aquarium in Baltimore and helped boost its reputation from a regional attraction to a national leader in its field.

Andrea’s corporate experience includes serving as public relations director and spokesperson for US Airways, Inc. In the dot-come era, she was vice president of public relations for Priceline.com where she oversaw the company’s launch and positioned it for a successful IPO.

She has specialized experience as a national spokesperson and in crisis communications, and has served as editor of several publications. She also served as a volunteer on BHC’s marketing committee since 2007.

At BHC Andrea is responsible for all fundraising programs, external relations, public relations, marketing and communications. 

She earned a B.A. in communication arts from James Madison University and has served as adjunct faculty at American University and the University of Richmond’s Nonprofit Leadership Institute.
