Public Mural Project, Church Hill

Volunteer opportunity – get the whole family involved! Saturday, April 16th from 10 AM – 2 PM, come and help BHC beautify our newest work-in-progress, the Citadel of Hope Building on Venable Street in Church Hill. BHC is partnering with Art on Wheels, The Muralistas (artists/designers) and HandsOn Greater Richmond for this large-scale mural painting project, to be unveiled on May 18th at our gala event, Groundbreakers Featuring the Golden Hammer Awards. Get a sneak peek at how it might look after the murals are finished via the image posted above.

Prior to its being purchased by the Better Housing Coalition, this property was neglected for decades. To honor the neighbors and the vibrancy of Church Hill, we are creating a large-scale mural project on the building’s shuttered windows. The murals will reflect the character and vibe of Richmond and the Church Hill neighborhood while depicting the factors that make a community a great place to live. They will beautify the building until its rehabilitation. Volunteers will help paint the murals. Parking is on the street. Wear clothes you can paint in. Bring water and smiling faces. All are welcome but you must register via the event link on HandsOn Greater Richmond’s website.
