Why Live in a BHC Community

Family-Oriented Living

At the Better Housing Coalition, we measure our success by the success of our residents. While our primary lines of business involve bricks, mortar, and construction, our ultimate goal is to create more choices and opportunities for those who call the Richmond region “home.” Whether you are interested in apartment living or purchasing a home for the first time, Better Housing Coalition staff will work with you to find a high-quality solution in a choice neighborhood that works with your lifestyle and budget.

An added bonus for families: many of our multi-family apartment communities come with free and voluntary resident support services for youth and adults. Our programs are designed to help you achieve your personal goals at all stages of life. Some of our services targeted to families: educational and cultural enrichment programs for young people; career training/navigation for adults; and a competitive scholarship awards program for adults 17 years and older who wish to achieve higher education. Discover Senior Living with BHC

Friendship Café at Market Square apartments

Discover the benefits of living in a BHC senior community. BHC offers a range of attractive, affordable apartment homes in terrific neighborhoods across Greater Richmond for adults aged 55 and up. Participate in your favorite activities while enjoying modern amenities and BHC’s value-added resident support services. Some apartment communities allow your furry friend to accompany you, too.

At a BHC senior community, help is just a phone call away. All of our senior communities feature secure access and have emergency pull cords in each unit for peace of mind. Some of our senior communities provide regular, on-site resident support services (see below). All services are voluntary and offered to BHC residents free of charge. Some of our senior programs include health, nutrition and wellness programs, social and community events, and supplemental food programs. Give us a call to learn more.

Resident Support Services

Career Navigator Kristen Bellard

Shortly after move-in, you’ll be welcomed by a member of our resident support services team, who will discover your needs, help you find solutions and help you turn your dreams into reality. New to town? Need help finding a doctor, church or your way around the neighborhood? Interested in socializing, educational or cultural activities? Newly retired and need help applying for benefits? Want to brush up on your job interviewing skills? Kids need after-school activities? Our resident services staff are here to support you.

Maintenance-Free Living

All BHC rental properties are managed and maintained by BHC Management, our own full-time property management team. This means familiar faces operate the property and take care of needed repairs in and around your apartment. Energy-efficient appliances and other measures keep utility costs manageable. Enjoy doing more of the things you want to do, and leave the maintenance to us.
