The Cameron Foundation has awarded the Better Housing Coalition (BHC) $500,000 to help underwrite Phase II of BHC’s revitalization efforts in the Halifax neighborhood of Petersburg, VA. During Phase I, BHC built Claiborne Square seniors apartments with 47 units for lower-income seniors age 55 and older. The Cameron Foundation was also an instrumental funding partner of Phase I.
Plans for Phase II include the construction of 40 garden apartments for lower-income families, a green space, play area, and parking in the block south of Claiborne Square. Funds from The Cameron Foundation grant will be used for several onsite improvements, to include a rain garden and playground.
We are grateful for the generosity and partnership of the Cameron Foundation as we help contribute to the revitalization of Petersburg’s Halifax corridor.
