BHC to expand revitalization initiatives in Petersburg

Rendering of Claiborne Square apartments.

BHC is constructing a new senior community in Petersburg in partnership with Restoration of Petersburg CDC.  Claiborne Square, adjacent to Tabernacle Baptist Church on Halifax Road, will feature affordable 34 one-bedroom and 13 two-bedroom apartments for active adults 55 and older, with innovative green building technologies which reduce utility bills for residents.  Fourty-three of these apartments will be housed in the main building, with four in a separate cottage.  The community is now less than three months away from opening its doors.

Claiborne Square will be the Catalyst for Transformation.

Thanks to a generous grant from the Cameron Foundation, BHC will continue planning for future development in the surrounding neighborhood.  The grant will also enable BHC to offer free health and wellness services to residents of Claiborne Square, to help them age in place with comfort and with dignity.

Construction will be complete May 2011
