Nominations are now being accepted for the Better Housing Coalition’s prestigious Golden Hammer Awards to honor professionals whose work enhances the Richmond region through revitalization, blight reduction and historic preservation.
BHC is seeking nominations in six categories:
- Best Single-Family Residential Renovation
- Best Commercial Renovation – Neighborhood Scale (less than 5,000 sq. ft.)
- Best Commercial Renovation – Large Scale (more than 10,000 sq. ft.)
- Best New Infill Project
- Best Neighborhood Design Project
- Green Hammer for Sustainable Design
The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at the Hotel John Marshall at 502. E. Franklin Street. The nomination form is available at www.betterhousingcoalition.org/goldenhammer. Submissions are due October 5, 2012.
“The Richmond community places a premium on projects that enhance neighborhoods and preserve our historic urban landscape,” said David Herring, vice president of BHC’s Center for Neighborhood Revitalization and founder of the awards. “These juried awards honor people who weave those values into their work.”
Following the ceremony, honorees and guests will celebrate on the red carpet at BHC’s signature event, Groundbreakers.
