BHC is anchoring another key piece of revitalization in Church Hill by transforming Beckstoffers Mill and the surrounding block into a new mixed-use, mixed-income urban community. Located between R and S streets on 28th Street, modern energy-efficient apartments are now being constructed within the original structure of the historic lumber mill. By adhering to EarthCraft standards, BHC ensures residents will have low utility bills and high indoor air quality.
The 8,000 square foot mill building will include 22 apartments upon completion; also within the development will be a new 39-unit apartment building for low-income seniors, eight new single-family homes for sale, and three renovated single-family homes. Construction on the mill building will be completed by the end of 2011. Here’s a look at our progress so far:
