Lissy Bryan is an active community volunteer, notably in the areas of affordable housing and child welfare. She served as a Director of the Better Housing Coalition from 1995 through 2014, and as its Chairman from 2000 to 2011. She continues to serve BHC in an ex-officio capacity. As a volunteer for Henrico County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for over eight years, Lissy logged hundreds of hours advocating for children embroiled in the juvenile and family court system. She also has served as Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Bolling Haxall House Foundation, and is involved with the Jenkins and George Washington’s Fredericksburg Foundations.
Lissy now serves on the Board of The Community Foundation Serving Richmond and Central Virginia. She is also a member of the Women of Virginia Commemorative Commission and the Jenkins Foundation, and she is a Henrico County Master Gardener volunteer. Previous service includes the boards of Downtown Presents, Virginia League for Planned Parenthood, Metro Richmond Sports Backers and the Children’s Museum of Richmond. Before coming to Richmond in 1993, Bryan served as Director, Licensing and Product Development for the Smithsonian Institution and VP, Marketing for the National Audubon Society.
