BHC has responded to the Richmond area’s critical shortage of high-quality housing for low- to moderate-income older adults through our eight older-adult communities. Staffed support services are available in each of these communities to help residents stay active and healthy. Currently, BHC provides more than 580 secure, comfortable, attractive apartments and on-site amenities to adults 55 years of age and older.

Our Senior Communities

Located in Henrico County, this community serves adults age 62 years and older. Apartments are barrier free and equipped with emergency pull cords. Residents enjoy community rooms, cozy lounges with fireplaces, a library, exercise room and business center with computers.

Claiborne Square is centrally located in Petersburg for seniors 55 and older. Shopping and entertainment are within ten minutes. The community includes secured building access, an elevator, community room and library, a laundry facility, private terrace, and energy-efficient appliances.

Columns on Grove is conveniently located in Richmond's Fan district and features apartments with high ceilings, an outdoor courtyard with water gardens. The community is minutes from shopping, restaurants and grocery stores. This is a pet friendly community for residents 55 and up.

A Chesterfield residence located within Winchester Greens, this 55 and older community provides attractive, convenient, affordable homes with many amenities, including community rooms, lounges with fireplaces, covered porches and landscaped courtyards.

Monarch Woods, located in South Richmond, provides residents 62 years and older with comfort and convenience. Each barrier-free apartment has a fully equipped kitchen, wall-to-wall carpeting, and emergency pull-cords in the bathroom and bedroom.

Randolph Place is a 50-apartment senior housing community in the heart of Randolph, a historic Richmond neighborhood. With a bus stop less than a block away, and shops and restaurants three blocks away, Randolph Place embodies the essence of urban living for seniors aged 62 and older.

Rockwood Village, located in Chesterfield County, is a community designed to meet the needs of adults 62 years and older. Each barrier-free apartment has a fully equipped kitchen, wall-to-wall carpeting, and emergency pull-cords in the bathroom and bedroom.

Located in Richmond’s Church Hill neighborhood near Beckstoffer’s Mill Loft Apartments, these senior apartments serve adults age 55 and older. Apartments feature controlled access, emergency pull cords, Energy Star appliances, generous and accessible floor plans. Rent includes all utilities. Residents have access to community and laundry rooms, social activities, free off-street parking, and private rooftop terrace.
