Chief Operating Officer
Alana Gonzalez joined Better Housing Coalition in October 2023 as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO). In this role, she has responsibility for improving processes and gaining efficiencies throughout the company’s operations.
Prior to joining BHC, Alana served as Chief Operating Officer for Richmond Public Schools, which serves approximately 22,000 students in preschool through grade 12. Alana has also held the role of Executive Director of Community Reconstruction and Infrastructure for the New York State Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery, where she led more than 300 recovery and resiliency projects for New York State communities affected by Superstorm Sandy, Hurricane Irene and Hurricane Lee. Additionally, Alana served as Chief of Staff to the General Manager for the New York City Housing Authority, which provides safe and affordable housing to more than 400,000 low- to moderate-income NYC residents.
Alana holds a Master’s in Public Administration from Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy; and earned a Bachelor’s in Sociology from the State University of New York at Albany.
